The summer has not been kind to yards this year. Ours is still green, and maybe looks even more so because the ones on either side are yellow.
The sunset was spectacular tonight, though photos rarely come close to what you see with you own eyes. Thanks to guest photographer, Laura. (I was driving.)
I'm hopeful that this morning's rain and these puffy afternoon clouds support the chances that this weekend's forecast - rain and a high temperature below 100 - may come true.
Laura's lantana is bright and pretty. Since I was a kid I always liked this plant's multi-colored blooms.
The entrance to an electronics store that resides in what I'm convinced was previously a country and western dance hall. Of course, the more frightening may also be true - that they decorated this way intentionally. Inside is even stranger.
Sadly, you don't see as many men wearing ties as you once did.
A colleague gave me this, with the advice that it might not be the best way to transport a project to a meeting. I guess not everyone would find this funny.
Tom and Jen are hosting a boy kitten whose owner is on vacation. He's pretty energetic and a little ferocious!
She's a happy girl. A view of the hummingbird feeder and a nap - what else could she need?
Even though it's still very hot, the light is pretty at the end of the day.
Sometimes, at the end of the day, they cooperate. We enjoyed many moments of watching them (and at least one other) zip around.
A photo of a photo almost seems like cheating, but this one in a sandwich shop spoke to me.
Gazania, which I planted in the back yard. It also comes in red and orange, though most of the ones I bought are yellow.
Sunflower seeds - fresh from a friend's yard. Can't wait to taste them!
A skirt I bought at a street fair this weekend - made of sari fabric.
The whiteness of this web made it catch my eye, and upon closer inspection, I think the part in the upper left corner looks like it has dandruff. I wonder what caused that...
Guess what I dropped, and then had for dinner.
Heading to the airport and leaving the mountains behind. Too short a trip.
Chautaqua Park in Boulder, Colorado - a lovely hike.
Sunset in Niwot, Colorado, near Boulder.
What are those weird-looking things I see through the window? Oh, yeah: clouds. Too bad there was no rain, but the slightly cooler temperature was nice. Decidedly less oven-like.
Believe it or not, some flowers do okay in the heat, if you keep them watered. And I appreciate this very much! And, bonus: they look pretty with water drops on them.
I was pretty glad this guy was on the outside of the window. It is cool to see him up close, though.
Some of today's last rays and shadows.
One lone hair clip. I found the basket of hair things I hadn't seen since the move, but somehow in organizing the bathroom I lost track of it again.
Back in yoga for the first time in too long. This is what I could see from the window.
Basil actually seems to like the heat. I noticed it's actually growing towards the sun.
I love the shape of the turk's cap flowers as they unfold. The hummingbird likes them too.
Old meets new - no more wrestling with the lopsided gate.
This summer continues to be brutal.
Groovy glass tiles on the outside of a building near a favorite restaurant.
