About four and a half weeks ago I got some new bling - braces! (Yes, again.) The orthodontist says I should only have them about six months. I believe her because I can see and feel movement already. Thank goodness for orthodontic wax!
Window shopping at a lighting store after dinner. Was intrigued by the printed sign taped to the door (and curled in the corners from the humidity): "Due to extreme circumstances, pets are no longer allowed in the store..." One can only imagine why pets were ever allowed into a store with high-end lighting, much less what prompted this sign.

Last night at La Duni Latin Cafe when Fernando swirled raspberry, Arequipe caramel and chocolate sauces on our cake someone said, "Now you've done it - I'll have to lick the plate," and he replied, "Believe me, if you don't, I will." This was the funniest thing we heard all week! At La Duni they say, Where there is cake there is love. This is a photo of a display cake.
The redbud trees blooming all over town make striking purple sights. Today was warm but so windy we saw newspaper machines blown over in two places. Though it didn't rain, the sky looks clean and blue.
Around 4:30 this morning we were woken up by the frantic squeaking of something becoming dinner to another creature, probably an owl. It probably ended up somewhere on the Katy Trail. Michael thought it morbid that I said we'd never know what it was because there's not a "See 'N Say" toy for what an animal says when it's in trouble. What can I say, it was early in the morning.
The news at lunch today reported that the winds were gusting up to 29 mph, as the water in this fountain demonstrates.

Though I really enjoyed my short trip to visit family - a long weekend with very little structure - the five-hour drive and then a full day of work today brought my energy level square up against... yes, the proverbial brick wall. Now that I've had dinner and should be winding down for the night, I feel more energetic.
