Dec. 30, 2010 - Day 294

Happy New Year a day early! Sadly, the JumboTron is easier to photograph than the players, who move much faster than my camera.

Dec. 29, 2010 - Day 293

Valentine's candy already - seriously?

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

Dec. 28, 2010 - Day 292

Rain on the window of my car after I got home. At least it's in the 40s instead of around 28 degrees like a few days ago.

Dec. 27, 2010 - Day 291

Trees against the sky like this make me think of the "cameo" portraits made by cutting a silhouette of someone's face from dark paper and placing it on a white background. When the sky looks like this I imagine someone making a million intricate cuts with a pair of tiny scissors.

Dec. 26, 2010 - Day 290

Seems fair to say that winter is finally fully here. You can see a lot of sky through a lot of trees. Oh, and it's fairly cold as well.

Dec. 25, 2010 - Day 289

Laura with her green tea frozen drink that looked more and more like other things as time went on... like ocean coral or ant farm sand.

Dec. 24, 2010 - Day 288

It's been in the 40s and rainy most of the day. This is from this morning when it had really only been drizzling.

Dec. 23, 2010 - Day 287

I found a new scarf while shopping for something else. I love the intensity of the colors.

Dec. 22, 1010 - Day 286

Every time I take a photo of the fall foliage I wonder if it will be the last of the vibrant colors, and I keep being surprised. I had an early morning appointment this morning and saw these on the hill by where I parked.

Dec. 21, 2010 - Day 285

My photo of sunrise this morning is much more vivid than my photos of the moon during the eclipse last night. It was a cool experience, but didn't make for spectacular images. If you squint at this photo it looks like a forest fire.

Dec. 20, 2010 - Day 284

The moon was already pretty big when I left work this evening. There will be a full lunar eclipse in the wee hours tonight. The moon's supposed to turn red and orange.

Dec. 19, 2010 - Day 283

The Japanese maples are brilliantly red this time of year.

Dec. 18, 2010 - Day 282

As I was driving today I saw this house, which looks bright and charming - almost like something from a fairy tale.

Friday, December 17, 2010

Dec. 17, 2010 - Day 281

Early morning wintry clouds. I think it's finally decided to be winter...maybe.

Thursday, December 16, 2010

Dec. 16, 2010 - Day 280

I always enjoy trees, but the changing of the leaves makes a fabulous show. The weather can't decide whether we're still in fall or fully into winter. High of 75 degrees yesterday and today around 55 degrees.

Dec. 15, 2010 - Day 279

After several White Elephant gift exchanges in previous years, I had adopted low expectations. The way these things work, if you open something cool, it's likely to be "stolen" by another person. This year has reset my expectations. Tonight's results - five small cookbooks.

Dec. 14, 2010 - Day 278

I'm not willing to set up a tripod outside the homes of strangers, so Christmas lights turn out a bit squiggly when you zoom in. This is one of my favorites - simple and elegant. This family went all out, with a tree inside and one outside.

Dec. 13, 2010 - Day 277

We had dinner at one of our favorite diners tonight. Amongst the Christmas decor were glass balls hung from ribbons attached to the ceiling. Some had frosted surfaces, but those with shiny ones reflected everything below.

Dec. 12, 2010 - Day 276

This seems to be fiercely happy fall foliage!

Saturday, December 11, 2010

Dec. 11, 2010 - Day 275

The sunset was spectacular tonight.

Friday, December 10, 2010

Dec. 10, 2010 - Day 274

Woke up earlier than usual today and actually got to see the effect of the sun rising in the sky. What a pleasant surprise!

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Dec. 9, 2010 - Day 273

While I was playing blackjack (with imaginary money, darn it) at the work holiday party, the dealers who were not so busy had to resort to playing each other.

Dec. 8, 2010 - Day 272

Physics tells us that even things that appear to be still are actually moving. Nothing proves that as quickly as night time photos! (It is pretty, though!)

Dec. 7, 2010 - Day 271

Who know magnetic chip clips could be both functional and decorative?

Monday, December 6, 2010

Dec. 6, 2010 - Day 270

Low tire - interesting way to start the week. Spent the first couple of hours in the tire change place. The good (but strange) news is that they couldn't find a leak or puncture.

Sunday, December 5, 2010

Dec. 5, 2010 - Day 269

It seems it's finally going to be more winter-like for some period of time. If that's the case, it won't be long before scenes like this disappear.

Saturday, December 4, 2010

Dec. 4, 2010 - Day 268

Sunlight from the kitchen window reflecting through the blinds and a drinking glass.

Dec. 3, 2010 - Day 267

Not wild about the candy in this box, but like that the box identifies the recycling status of the different parts of the packaging.

Thursday, December 2, 2010

Dec. 2, 2010 - Day 266

The early sunset this time of year makes me even more grateful for weekend days with lovely sun. A few days ago I mentioned that we both wanted to feel a bit more ducky, and I have to admit, my spirit is significantly lighter the last few days.

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

Dec. 1, 2020 - Day 265

Popcorn: dinner of champions too tired and not hungry enough to muster anything else. I like mine with freshly cracked pepper and some Parmesan cheese.

Nov. 30, 2010 - Day 264

White elephant gift never know what you're going home with. What at first looked like a gallon-sized freezer bag of multi-colored yarn turns out to be a panel of long strings meant to hang across a doorway. Very likely to turn into a crafts project, lest it become a cat toy.
