Feb. 27, 2011 - Day 353

Signs of spring...

Feb. 26, 2011 - Day 352

The water drops on this debris in the grass make it a little more interesting.

Feb. 25, 2011 - Day 351

We're hearing a lot more birds singing lately, including mockingbirds.

Feb. 24, 2011 - Day 350

Gathering parts for my dance costume. This is a closeup of the belt with shisa mirrors. Now I need to make tassels...

Feb. 23, 2011 - Day 349

No wonder people love bulbs - they come back even after a week of snow! (Actually, probably because of the week of snow.) I didn't plant these as bulbs, but was given some plants from a friend with a really green thumb. These will turn into orange lilies.

Feb. 22, 2011 - Day 348

I used to think of what's behind this fence as just a vacant lot, until the weeks around the Super Bowl, when a sponsor took over half our work parking lot for an event. Now that the field has been restored to its normal state, it's a sea of calm open space.

Feb. 21, 2011 - Day 347

Discovered this fence of many colors on our walk yesterday. I was intrigued by how blue some of the boards look.

Feb. 20, 2011 - Day 346

It's beginning to look a little bit like spring is coming...

Feb. 19, 2011 - Day 345

Two errors in 13 words. Where's an English major when you need one? (The one that was with us winced.)

Feb. 18, 2011 - Day 344

Sunset turning this hotel - normally a pale shade of yellow - to pink.

Feb. 17, 2011 - Day 343

A lovely wall covering made of wood fashioned into the shape of leaves. It had a lot of depth and movement to it.

Feb. 14, 2011 - Day 340

The sunset was surprisingly bright tonight.

Feb. 13, 2011 - Day 339

Birds on a wire around sunset. We thought it interesting that they're facing opposite directions.

Feb. 12, 2011 - Day 338

The fun thing about glass block windows is that they look different based on the weather outside. It's nice to see blue sky rather than white.

Feb. 11, 2011 - Day 337

An interesting sculpture in a building where I had an appointment this morning. This part sits on a black base that has several smooth waterfalls gliding over its edges.

Feb. 10, 2011 - Day 336

This is a closeup of some of the ice on our back sidewalk on Wednesday. It started as freezing rain, so is very bumpy and slick. Driving to work was fun that day. I'm very relieved that most ice has melted and temperatures are going to be much warmer in coming days.

Feb. 9, 2011 - Day 335

The evening sky looks peaceful, and once last night's ice and snow (mostly) melted, I guess it was. Still colder than I prefer, though.

Feb. 8, 2011 - Day 334

Michael gives a "thumbs up" to microbiology lab. His glove leaked and he's got a purple finger from the microscope stain they were using. At least it's not e-coli.

Feb. 7, 2011 - Day 333

Beryl has been making up for lost time enjoying the sun patches the last couple of days. They were missing from Tuesday through Friday.

Feb. 6, 2011 - Day 332

We saw this on a walk we took on Friday afternoon. Someone had a good time with the snow here. (We didn't even know they still make big wheels.)

Feb. 5, 2011 - Day 331

This was our happiest moment today - the cold water pipe, which had been frozen for several days, opened up and did not burst as it thawed. Whew!

Feb. 4, 2011 - Day 330

Michael after throwing a snowball in the dark.

Feb. 3, 2011 - Day 329

In the park across from my office building. I think a sprinkler was left on - there's nothing remotely this spectacular anywhere else nearby.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Feb. 2, 2011 - Day 328

It's really cold. I baked banana bread tonight. The oven was on for more than an hour and now you can't even tell.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Feb. 1, 2011 - Day 327

Frozen rain from last night and today on the lid of our recycling bin. Brrr!
